# Getting results # Removing vocals {{@215}} # Creating duets ***Simple duets*** Simple duet mode changes text settings using predefined duet styles to visualize the change of the singer. For more information please see section [Using duet events](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/link/15#bkmrk-duet-event). ***Advanced duets*** Karaoke Video Creator version allows to create professional parallel duets. The most important features are: [Duet Wizard that helps to assign lyrics to singers](#Duet_Wizard) [Full duet synchronization mode](#Full_duet_synchronization) [Divided screen for duets (Singer 1 at top and Singer 2 at the bottom of the screen) with separate settings for each of the singers](#Duet_settings) ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-j4ouubed.png) Please note that in tutorials section you will find [Create song with duets tutorial](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/books/karaoke-video-creator-user-manual/page/create-songs-with-duets "Create songs with duets"). ***General remarks*** In duet mode Karaoke Video Creator divides the song in three modes: parts that are to be sung by Singer 1, those to be sung by Singer 2, and parts of the song sung together by both singers. Parts sung by both singers are displayed in the same manner as the lyrics in non-duets song. But when Karaoke Video Creator finds duet part, it divides the screen into two parts and displays lyrics for singer 1 at the top, and lyrics for singer 2 at the bottom (see image above). To enable duets in Karaoke Video Creator use **Full duet mode** toolbar button (![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-rhvg96rl.png)) or select **Enable full duet mode** from synchronization menu. ***Non-split duets*** {{@220}} ***Multiple languages*** Full duet mode can be used to create song in two languages. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-ue37h94u.png) Please see `brother john two languages.pk2` file located in `Examples` subdirectory of Karaoke Video Creator directory (usually `C:\Program Files\Doblon\Karaoke Video Creator` or `Documents\My Karaoke\Karaoke Video Creator Examples` on Windows 7 or Vista). --- ##### DUET WIZARD Duet Wizard allows to assign portions of the lyrics to each of the singers. {{@216}} --- ##### FULL DUET SYNCHRONIZATION {{@218}} --- ##### DUET SETTINGS {{@219}} # Using events Karaoke Video Creator gives you the full control over the karaoke video you create. You may change the text properties, colors, and display images anywhere in the song. These extra options are available by the means of events. Event is executed after the preceding word is painted or highlighted (it depends of the event, eg. Clear screen is triggered after highlighting, while Colors event during painting). This behaviour may be changed for Set Background events, for which you may choose exact time of activation. You work with events in lyrics editor. They are displayed as boxes with text describing the type of the event. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-atkwncuk.png) In order to insert a event position the cursor in the place the event should be inserted and click **Insert Event** button on the lyrics pane toolbar (![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-reyioq0u.png)) or select **Insert event** menu command from **Edit** menu. **Insert Event** dialog box will appear, allowing you to select the event type from the list. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-w3nbjbqi.png) Below is the list of events available in Karaoke Video Creator. After you select the type of the event another dialog box is displayed that allows to set the properties of the selected event type.

[Clear Screen](#Clear_Screen_event)	Causes a screen to be erased after the last word before the event becomes highlighted
[Colors](#Colors_event)	Allows to change colors for text (both normal and highlighted), effects, background, and border
[Countdown](#Countdown_event)	Inserts countdown mark before the next word that helps the singer to start on time
[Display Image](#Display_Image_event)	Allows to display an image on the screen. Before the picture is displayed the screen is cleared.
[Duet](#Duet_evant)	Allows to change the coloring of the text to visualize the change of a singer Duets can be parallel
[Set Background](#Set_background_event)	Changes the background of the video
[Text Settings](#Text_Settings_event)	Allows to modify the properties of the text

Events can be edited. **To edit an event** double-click it in the lyrics editor or right-click it and select **Event Properties** command from pop-up menu. Events can be deleted like other text. There is one more editing feature available for events -- you may copy event and insert it in some other place in the song. to do this right-click an event to copy and select **Copy Event** command. Now right-click in the place you want the copy of the event to appear and select **Paste Event** command from pop-up menu. --- ##### CLEAR SCREEN EVENT {{@223}} If scrolling display mode is selected, after clearing the screen lyrics will painted from the top of the screen. --- ##### COLORS EVENT {{@224}} --- ##### COUNTDOWN EVENT {{@225}} --- ##### DISPLAY IMAGE EVENT Display Image event allows to display the image on the screen. Before the image is displayed the screen is cleared. In regular version of Karaoke Video Creator duet mode changes the coloring and alignment of the text to visualize the change of a singer. With full duet mode enabled duets can be parallel. The upper part of the screen is taken by Singer 1, and the lower by Singer 2. The lyrics for each of the singers are highlighted independently. Please see [Creating duets](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/books/karaoke-video-creator-user-manual/page/creating-duets "Creating duets") section for more information. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-y7vlc1wa.png) All words after the event will be colored according to the selected mode. Three duet modes are available: · Singer 1 · Singer 2 · Both You may view and change the predefined coloring and alignment assigned to duet modes by clicking **Duet settings** button. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-0jgn8mif.png) **Mode** allows to change the duet mode that you would like to modify. Only Singer 1 and Singer 2 modes are available -- for Both Karaoke Video Creator uses global settings for the song (as defined in [Video Settings dialog box](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/link/11#bkmrk-modyfying-video-sett)). **Color** and **Highlight** allows you to change the color of the text assigned to the selected mode, while **Alignment** controls the alignment of the text assigned to the selected mode. The duet settings are global for the song. --- *Note: Colors and Text settings flags overwrite the duet settings.* --- --- ##### SET BACKGROUND EVENT This event allows to change the background of the karaoke video. You may display an image (BMP, JPG, or PNG) or a movie (AVI or MPG). ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-zfyye1jy.png) ***Current background*** This window displays the current background (either set in Video Settings dialog box or by another Set Background event placed earlier in the song). If the current background is a movie you will see a first frame of the movie. ***New background*** This window displays the new background. Use Browse button to find the file you would like to display. You may use still images (BMP, JPG, and PNG formats are supported) or videos (AVI, MPEG, WMV). ***Transition*** Transition defines a way how the background will change from one to another. Several options are possible, you may also define the duration of the transition. To change the background immediately set the duration to zero. ***Preview*** Here you can see how the transition will look like. When to display This is an advanced feature that allows to define the exact time of background change. By default new background is applied after the word preceding it has been sung. You may change this by selecting **When next word begins**. It is also possible to define time offset to be applied -- for instance selecting '10' will cause the background to be changed ten seconds after the word has been sung (or 10 seconds before the next word will be sung, if **When next word begins** is selected). --- ##### TEXT SETTINGS EVENT Text Settings event allows to modify the properties of the text. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-obfige7d.png) {{@227}} # Images Karaoke Video Creator allows to display images anywhere in the song. It also has shortcuts for adding title and credits screen. The following formats are supported by Karaoke Video Creator: BMP (Windows bitmaps) JPG PNG To invoke the file selection dialog box select **Browse** button. See the following topics for more information: [Using title and credit images](#Using_title_and_credit_images) [Displaying images in the middle of the song](#Displaying_images_in_the_middl) [Displaying images using styles](#Displaying_images_using_styles) --- ##### USING TITLE AND CREDIT IMAGES Title image is displayed at the beginning of the song. Credits image is displayed at the end of the song, when the singing stops. To define title and credit images open **Video Settings** dialog box click **Video Settings** button on the toolbar (![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-jfndbekv.png)) or select **Video Settings **command from **Create** menu. ![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-q5wjojq5.png) ***Images*** This group of options allows to select the pictures that are to appear before the song and after the song. By default these pictures are disabled. To display title image select **Title** checkbox and then click on **Settings **button. **Display image** dialog box will appear. The same procedure needs to be applied for credits image. --- ##### DISPLAYING IMAGES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG To display image in the middle of the song place cursor position in the place that image should appear, click **Insert CD+G Event** button on the toolbar (![](https://docs.powerkaraoke.com/uploads/images/gallery/2024-06/embedded-image-rgfgerns.png)), and then select **Display Image** event type. Display Image event allows to display the image on the screen. Before the image is displayed the screen is cleared.
